Gothic Victorian Serpentine Mantel
This Victorian Gothic mantelpiece originally came from a house on the South Circular Road. The serpentine mantel (pictured) has gentle curves. Beneath the mantel, the rectilinear pattern picks up the rhythm.
Gothic rosettes inside incised arches feature each side of the opening. The arched inset, shown with this mantelpiece, is also an original, of similar provenance. It is quite ornate and also Gothic in style.
