We restored this Inlaid Etruscan style Chimneypiece. The marble surround was smoke damaged, and it was also missing some inlaid detail.

The Etruscans were a clan from the central Italy. Amongst other important facts the Etruscans are said to have influenced the Romans on the skills of Gladiatorial combat. Scenes of combat such as these are depicted in the inlaid panel.
